Birth Preparation

Prepare for the birth you envision—and the moments no recording can predict.
Birth preparation can help you reduce fear, build confidence and develop powerful mental tools before labour begins.
But birth does not always follow the plan, the script or the timing of a recording.
I am developing a different approach to mental birth preparation—one that combines prenatal hypnosis, conditioned rapid self-hypnosis, partner preparation and the flexibility to respond when labour becomes more intense or changes direction.

What my own birth taught me
I did not go into birth unprepared.
Throughout my pregnancy, I practised hypnosis, listened to consistent music and binaural beats, and gave my partner and doula specific words and phrases to use with me.
During labour, I was able to enter a deeply focused state in the birthing pool and remain there for approximately an hour.
Then the contractions became more intense.
Each contraction interrupted the recording’s induction or countdown before I could fully settle into it. Stopping, restarting or trying to find the right place in the recording disrupted the state even further.
After four days of labour, my planned home water birth ultimately moved to the hospital and ended in a C-section.
That experience did not convince me that birth hypnosis was useless. It showed me where the conventional approach had limitations.
The tools could help—but the recording could not respond to what my body was doing in real time. And most preparation focused heavily on the birth I hoped to have, without providing enough mental direction for exhaustion, disruption or a completely different outcome.
I began wondering what birth preparation could look like if it prepared women for both.
A recording should reinforce the skill—not be the entire skill
The approach I am developing will not depend upon pressing play on a generic recording and hoping labour follows its timing.
Instead, the goal is to work with each mother before birth to practise entering hypnosis, develop a faster route back into that focused state and condition cues that can be reinforced through repetition.
Her recording would use the same language and cues we have already established together.
Her birth partner would also learn how to support those cues—without needing to perform hypnotherapy or manage a complicated collection of recordings during labour.
What this developing approach may include
- Private prenatal preparation sessions delivered online
- Hypnosis for fear, confidence and mental birth preparation
- Conditioned rapid self-hypnosis and re-entry cues
- Personalized practice recordings
- Birth-partner preparation and rehearsal
- Tools for moments when trance becomes difficult to access
- Mental preparation for changes in the birth plan
- Support for hospital, birth-centre and planned home-birth settings
- Post-birth reflection and integration
The goal is not to guarantee a painless birth or one specific outcome.
The goal is to help you build tools, practise them before labour and feel more mentally prepared to meet both the expected and unexpected parts of birth.
For the birth you hope for—and the one you cannot completely plan
A positive birth experience cannot be guaranteed by perfect preparation, a recording or a carefully written birth plan.
But preparation can still matter.
You can reduce fear, strengthen your ability to focus, involve your partner and develop tools that may help you feel more supported and capable as your birth unfolds.
I am currently developing and refining this program—including tools I would want available for my own future birth.
Join the interest list to receive development updates, opportunities to provide feedback and early access when the first private pilot spaces become available.
This program will provide hypnosis-based coaching and general education for mental and emotional birth preparation. It will not provide medical advice, midwifery, doula services or guarantees regarding pain, interventions or birth outcomes. Clients should continue working with their qualified maternity healthcare providers
You don’t need to overhaul your life overnight. You need to understand what is keeping you stuck—and begin changing the right things in the right order.
My first founding group program will open in late February 2027. Join the waitlist for early access, program details and founding-member pricing.
